Wireless Information Networking Group

The primary focus of Wireless Information Networking Group (WiNG) at NITK Surathkal is to enable verifiable and reproducible research in the areas of Computer Networks; specially Network Congestion Control, Active Queue Management, Protocol Design and Development, Internet of Things and Future Internet Architecture. The projects handled by this group are all open-source, and active contributions from the community towards enhacing these projects are welcome!

WiNG has been instrumental in developing benchmark tools that can be used to analyze the working of existing or upcoming network protocols. These tools are developed with an aim to simplify the process of protocol design and engineering. WiNG has been actively contributing to the development of ns-3 network simulator, and other related tools. The work carried out by WiNG laid the foundation for making NITK Surathkal a member of the ns-3 consortium (University of Washington, Seattle), and a member of Named Data Networks Consortium (University of California, Los Angeles).

Our goal is to

  • foster verifiable and reproducible research in the areas of computer networking.
  • build / extend open source networking tools, and simplify the process of network experimentation.
  • address state-of-the-art networking challenges, and contribute towards the growth of the Internet.
